About the Author
H.K. Yahaya Jawula
H.K. Yahaya Jawula is a Ghanaian-American author
and finance professional whose life has been shaped by the resilience she writes about. After losing
her father during her second year of high school, she turned to soccer as a shield from the streets,
ultimately earning a place on Ghana’s national team and its 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad
before receiving an athletic scholarship to the United States.
A two-time Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, she draws on her experiences as an athlete, immigrant,
and finance professional to explore courage, leadership, inheritance, and endurance. Inspired by
West African history and cultural traditions, her writing reflects her belief that love, when guided by
wisdom, can become its own kind of throne.
She lives in New Jersey with her husband and their three children.
